A wooden column rests on top of a metal wedge. The wedge pierces the bottom of the column, their balance carefully maintained by the tension pushing the column against the roof of the gallery space and the column´s resistance to being penetrated by the wedge. Towering above the spectators, this simple structure harnesses physical and optical tensions around a minimal surface at ground level, alluding to the dynamicity of obelisks, towers and skyscrapers. Their balance is fragile yet imposing as the structure redistributes the visual forces in the gallery around the supplementary column.
