The dynamic qualities of three simple objects are explored through their carefully balanced interaction: a stone rests on a wooden rod, it is held in place by a rubber tire. Or, the tire is given shape and height by the stone as they both hold the rod in place, resting against the wall. Or, again, the stone and the tire are pushed apart by the rod as it rises up from the ground. The play of forces admits descriptions as varied as the dimensions of their interaction, the perceived distribution of weights varying as the spectator chooses a resting ground for the set. Tension, balance and antagonism are made visible as components of the objects that make up the piece, put on display by the simplicity and ephemeral constitution of the assemblage.
